Sunday Worship - Becoming & Making Disciples: Part 2 "Called To Discipleship"
Matthew 4:18-20 says, "And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers. And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. And they straightway left their nets, and followed him."
Senior Pastor Travis Tullis reminded us that Jesus has sent us all an invitation to become disciples of His Kingdom. The focus scriptures are Matthew 11:28-30, Luke 9:24-25, Matthew 4:18-20, and 1 John 3:2-3.
The benefits of becoming a disciple of Jesus Christ are that He will give us rest from our burdens. "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." Matthew 11:28-30. When we accept the invitation to come unto Jesus, we must become committed to His will for our lives. We do this by learning of Him and being obedient to His word; following Him in all that we do. Once we learn of Him, we can become disciples and ambassadors of His Kingdom through our sacrifice.
Thank you, Senior Pastor Tullis, for leading us forward and higher together and reminding us that salvation is free. However, discipleship comes with a cost which is the sacrifice of our time, effort and commitment. This comes with a great reward, everlasting life.
