Sunday Service - “When His Commands Become My Joy"

In “When His Commands Become My Joy: Living in His Love, Obeying with Joy,” Senior Pastor Travis Tullis reminds us that wholehearted surrender to Christ transforms obedience from a duty into a joyful expression of our relationship with Him. Through John 15:9–15, Luke 17:10, and 1 Timothy 3:16, we see that living in Christ’s love calls us to surrender, obedience, and faithful witness.

In John 15:9–15, Jesus teaches that abiding in His love means keeping His commandments. Yet His commands are not intended to take away our joy. Jesus declares that He desires His joy to remain in us and our joy to be full. As we surrender our will and sinful desires—both publicly and privately—obedience becomes evidence of a life rooted in His love. Christ also draws us closer, calling us not merely servants but friends who know the heart of their Master.

Luke 17:10 reminds us that obedience is not about receiving recognition or praise. We humbly serve because we belong to Christ, so we surrender our time and desires, joyfully serving wherever He calls because obedience is our duty and delight.

Finally, 1 Timothy 3:16 centers our faith on the mystery of godliness revealed through Jesus Christ. Because Christ was manifested, proclaimed, believed on, and received into glory, we have a Gospel worth living and declaring.
