Sunday Worship Service- "Chosen Before the Battle”
When the prophet Samuel was sent to anoint the next king of Israel, he initially judged Jesse’s sons based on their outward appearance. However, God offers a powerful reminder not to rely on external standards:
“But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7.
Senior Pastor Travis Tullis teaches us that we are “Chosen Before the Battle.” This message serves as preparation for “Kings in the Making,” calling on men to rise up to their God-given identity to “become the men God designed them to be.” The focus scriptures are 1 Samuel 16:1-13 and Isaiah 3:4-12.
In contrast to God’s values, today’s culture often defines manhood by superficial standards, such as physical image, financial success, and the admiration of women. These measures, conversely, are far removed from the biblical vision of manhood. Biblical manhood presents a different model: a man who leads by serving, just as Jesus exemplified.
Jesus Christ, our ultimate model of manhood, demonstrated servant leadership not only through humility but also as a protector, provider, and visionary, carrying an eternal purpose for His Church. His life offers the foundation for what it truly means to be a man of God. This example helps us learn how to prepare for our battles to come.
Thank you, Senior Pastor Tullis, for leading us forward and higher together, and for reminding us that it takes discipline, preparation, and faith to have a chosen status in God's Kingdom.
